Ian

This is a photograph of our lovely son, Ian:-
I copied it from a website called "Vegan Food & Living.com". It was embedded in an article about veganism and linked to the work Ian has been doing with "Bosh" over the last seven or eight months. It's all about the promotion of tasty plant-based recipes. "Bosh" has received an incredible number of hits and there is now even focussed talk about a book deal ready for Christmas sales.

A year ago, Ian was in a difficult place regarding work and love. He had broken up with his long time girlfriend and then the music-related internet start-up company he had joined went to the wall. He had to come back and live with us in Sheffield for a few months. But now, back down in London, things seem to be on the up again. With his business partner Henry, he is working like a trojan to make "Bosh" successful and that effort is beginning to pay off. Naturally, we are very proud of him.

  2. Veganism has a rapidly growing following in Australia. My daughter has a Vegan Blog and writes for a newly launched magazine - The Australian Vegan Magazine. I sent her the link for Bosh.

    1. Yes. I remember that Sue. Thanks for making the connection. I will send Ian the link to that magazine when I can find it.

  4. It's great that things are looking up. I am fascinated by the videos; I've gone back a few times since you posted the Bosh link. I really need to start making some of these dishes. I'd like to go vegan or even vegetarian but I don't have good tolerance for a lot of the protein substitutes. But I can't tell you how often I come out of the grocery store without meat because I can't stand the thought of what food animals go through. We end up going without, and eating eggs or cheese which are not the most ethical choices either. I'm rooting for your son's success - it's the way of the future, I firmly believe.

    1. I don't know how it is in Canada but here in England, there is certainly an upward trend in veganism. It's becoming cool - not that this means very much to our Ian. I am so pleased that you have paid repeat visits to Bosh, I will tell Ian when I speak to him this evening - if he picks up the phone!

  5. Once we realize that plants are also living creatures too, what will we eat?

I know you and Shirley are so very proud of both of your children, and rightly so.

    1. To answer your question - seeds which would include nuts and potatoes, wheat and rye.

  7. Ian is a good-looking young man, Yorkie. :)

I'm sure his "Bosh" venture will go well for him. Good marketing of a good product along with dedication and hard work will win in the end. I wish him all the very best in his venture.

  9. It must have been tough to see him go through a rough period. On the other hand it's great to see him succeed at something very challenging.

  10. That was very interesting, thank you! You and Shirley are rightly proud of Ian.
My sister has been a vegetarian for decades (not vegan), and she knows all about the annoying questions and stupid arguments people sometimes used to come up with. Not anymore, though; here in Germany, both vegetarianism and veganism are rather widespread now.
The only thing that surprised me in Ian's interview was that he said he had not expected anything to change when he first changed his diet.

    1. He wasn't in contact with many vegans or vegetarians so it was like an independent journey of discovery for him. It is interesting that the growth in veganism is happening all around the western world.

  11. I hope he continues to succeed!
I have considered watching the docos he talks about in his interview but I am afraid of what I might be convicted to change!

    1. With age we become settled in our ways and change seems less appealing.
